Two paintings from "The Hole in the Sky" series were selected for the permanent collection of The Smithsonian NASM by Deputy Director Don Lopez personally. Five paintings depicting a pilots perspective of cloud formations were the stage backdrop for General Tibbits' 90th Birthday party and air show when the infamous WWII fighter pilot requested two of them for the NASM permanent collection.
Mr. Lopez received them personally at the museum in Washington DC. Photo was taken outside his office at the museum where some amazing artwork graces the hallways and conference rooms. One was selected for The Smithsonian NASM Udvar-Hazy facility, the other for the Capitol Mall NASM. Halo
