The nude is such a classic subject I wanted to bring a contemporary approach with them. In the earliest of them "Abstract Beauty", it was a poured background with interference powders and the image was coaxed out of it based on the random pattern of the pour. The next was the surrealistic transitions of "Ethereal Dreams" forcing the transitions between weight, substance and shadow to weightlessness and light. The Dreamscapes nude studies have become a great exercise in loosing up my hand and brushwork. Years of technical training can be hard to shake off and with these, eventually a nice rhythm emerged. Over the years they have become more expressive and relaxed. I looked forward to them in the studio.
