It felt like having 31 of your children held hostage for 2.5+ years.
Not only seizing originals, the computers holding my limited edition image captures were instantly inaccessible.
This new action and challenge has ensnared more than a handful of artists and their multiple original works. Personally, have 31 originals being unlawfully held by one of the aggrieved parties in a reproduction house dispute between shareholders. One shareholder locked the doors on the business August 6th, within 18 hours of me flying in to hand deliver my most recent painting for reproduction purposes. I was to fly home with it after image capture for a prospective reproduction deal on August 8th. We rolled out to assess whether we could image capture it unstretched or if we had to stretch it in the morning before image capture.
When my host for the trip, artist Mark Malone, and I arrived at the reproduction house the next morning, the lobby was filled with Dallas police officers, Dallas constables, lawyers for both sides and posturing shareholders. |

The damage to the artists is mounting. Personally, I was opening a new gallery/showroom and studio in Florida on September 1st. I have now missed the holiday season and will probably miss the entire Florida high-season exposure due to their maneuvering and posturing.
I have been patient. I have been forced to file multiple documents and 'evidence' that I 'own' my own work, and that my reproduction house (one of a few I use) does not own my work. I have been forced now to retain counsel and another 50 day delay to submit for the umpteenth time, proof and inventory of the works to the plaintiff's attorney upon their multiple requests.
Artists named in the suit are Victoria Moore, Mark Malone and Thomas Arvid in a filing submitted on November 25th, 2013 in the State of Texas.
While this filing is recent, the works have been withheld from the artists for over four months that we have been denied access to both our art works, but also to our image capture digital files for reproductions processes. As we move into the 5th month of entrapment and documents that now demand "answer" within 20 days of service, they again want the inventory, which they have had for months. The latest court date set as I have been served, is June 30th, 2014... Another 6 MONTHS. By then thet will have willfully encumbered my artworks and digital files for almost a year.
The prospect that I will now miss my entire selling season in Florida with my recent and best works in a new gallery-showroom has been pretty distressing, as any of the management staff here at The Hub on Canal can tell you. I took this unique venue which has documented traffic due to it's membership mature and organizational structure.

A highly trafficked retail gallery and studio space of over 35 working artist studios, showrooms and galleries. My gallery at Studio 18 opened in September 1, but without my most recent and best works to show to the thousands of monthly visitors in a new town. I had signed a lease to the "Penthouse" studio at The Hub on Canal Street in New Smyrna Beach, Florida just before arriving in Dallas to deliver a new work for image capture and presentation to a known national distributor it had been requested to be prepared for.
