Sorry for those of you who have seen this before.) My dad was at Eniwetok in 58-59 and died of metastatic cancer found in his hip, brain, and lungs in late 1987. My mother filed a claim and was denied for a host of ridiculous excuses. Twenty-five years later I worked with an advocate at the county dept. of veterans affairs and was able to get her DIC for the fourteen months prior to her death, which included an admission of liability from the government. That in turn got my siblings and I a modest settlement, though it included an offset of the DIC my mother collected. My point is: keep trying. Don't give up. Get an advocate to help you with your claim. Also, the compensable cancer list is bullshit. That has to be changed. The first time my dad's claim got denied was because his cause of death was lung cancer/pneumonia and he smoked and they didn't take into account that he had cancer all over his body because those cancers weren't on the list. I hope you get relief Ron Pope. Thank you for your service. I am so sorry.
